Dimraeth is a dark fantasy action RPG that throws you into a dying world where the sun hasn’t risen in years and everything is slowly being consumed by something called the Gloom. You play as a Wanderer who wakes up in the ruins of a village with no memory of who you are, which is a setup you’ve seen before, but the game earns it with atmosphere and some genuinely interesting twists on the formula. The world is bleak without being miserable, and there’s a real sense that you’re picking through the bones of something that used to be alive.

The gameplay is built around exploration, stamina-based combat, and a corruption system that changes how you play depending on the choices you make. Combat is slow and deliberate. You’ve got light attacks, heavy attacks, dodges, and parries, and every fight drains your stamina, so you can’t just mash your way through. Enemy variety is decent, with corrupted beasts, spectral knights, and things that used to be human, and each one punishes a different bad habit. The corruption meter is the real hook—using dark abilities makes you stronger in the short term, but it also warps your character’s appearance, changes NPC dialogue, and eventually locks you into one of several endings. It’s a risk-reward system that actually makes you think before you tap into it.

Exploration matters too. The world is semi-open, with interconnected zones, hidden paths, and secrets tucked behind optional bosses. There’s crafting, weapon upgrading, and a small skill tree, but none of it feels bloated. The game respects your time and doesn’t drown you in menus.

It’s not a perfect game. The pacing drags in the middle, and some bosses feel unfair rather than challenging. But if you like soulslike combat with a strong sense of place and a story that actually reacts to how you play, Dimraeth is worth a look. It’s moody, it’s tough, and it sticks with you.
