Screw Drivers Gameplay
Most racing games hand you a finished car and ask you to drive it. Screw Drivers hands you a pile of blocks, a few engines and a vague hope that it all holds together. That’s the whole charm. Before you ever cross a finish line, you have to engineer something that can actually get there.
The build editor is the heart of the game. You can build vehicles with combustion engines, electric engines or both, then design the powertrain yourself with axles, gears and suspension to carry that power through the wheels and onto the road. Want rear-wheel drive? Easy. Want to power all 30 wheels of an absurd speed machine? Also easy, as long as your gear transmission makes sense. And it’s not just cars. You can build trucks, tanks, planes or anything else you can imagine, with 4 wheels, 16 wheels, propellers, pistons or 50 engines. You decide whether it’s realistic or ridiculous.
Then there’s the reason to build. A group of fancy royals is convinced their cars are the best in the world, and your job is to prove them wrong. Each monarch uses different building blocks to power special mechanical features in their vehicles, and every time you beat one of their creations, you unlock new engines, wheels and gears for your own garage. It’s a satisfying loop: build, test, tweak, race, unlock, repeat.
When you want company, you can start a multiplayer server, bring your best turbo-powered creations and race friends around the island in different tracks and challenges, online or over LAN. The game also supports Steam Workshop, so there’s a steady supply of community content, and there are DLC packs for stunts, aircraft and themed building blocks if you want more variety. It was free to play during Early Access, and Steam currently lists the base game at $7.99, so check the store page for the price when you buy.
