Toy Story 3 Complete Edition Gameplay
Some games just stick with you, and the Toy Story 3 video game is one of them. The Complete Edition reopens the toy chest for a new generation, and the pitch is simple: play through the movie, then play however you like.
Story Mode follows the film’s biggest moments, from Andy’s room all the way to Sunnyside Daycare. You swap between Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie, and each toy has abilities you’ll need to get through the levels. Woody can swing on his pull string, while Buzz’s strength lets him hurl the other toys across long distances. You’ll revisit scenes like the train rescue, Operation Playtime and the junkyard escape, and the whole story can be played in local two-player co-op, which makes it a great pick for a parent and kid.
The real star, though, is Toy Box Mode. It drops you into the wild west of Woody’s Roundup as a sandbox where you can play however you want. Characters around town give you quests to complete, which earn you gold to spend on personalizing the town your way. You can build and decorate buildings, dress up the townsfolk and unlock new things as you go. This is the mode a lot of fans remember most fondly, and it’s also playable with a friend in local co-op.
This edition also fixes an old frustration, since it brings together content that used to be limited to certain versions. You can now play as the Evil Emperor Zurg in Toy Box Mode and use four additional Theme Packs to decorate your Toy Box. Graphics, resolution and framerate have all been upgraded, so it looks and runs better than the original. At $24.99, it’s a friendly, family-oriented pick, and Steam players seem to agree: reviews are Very Positive at around 84%.
