Garlic Builder is a weird, meme-filled first-person construction and exploration game that takes the internet’s bizarre obsession with garlic and turns it into an entire ridiculous adventure. At the center of the game is a gameplay cycle focused around gathering garlic, building structures, and surviving the madness that follows you wherever you go. You begin in a strange, low-poly universe with only your bare hands and a dream, and your job is to collect garlic bulbs located throughout the map, which are both your currency and your means for building. You use them to construct walls, towers, bridges, and whatever else your imagination cooks up, but here’s the twist—the game actively throws obstacles at you while you’re trying to build, from angry NPCs to environmental hazards to random physics glitches that send your carefully stacked garlic tower crumbling to the ground.

There’s a light survival element too, since you have to manage your health and avoid getting knocked out by enemies who seem personally offended by your garlic hoarding. The building mechanics are intentionally janky and physics based so much of the joy comes from watching your creations wobble, fall down, or fly up into the sky pointlessly. You can play alone or have a good time with friends in multiplayer, and there is a loose progression system where finishing objectives unlocks new zones, cosmetic items, and larger garlic related objectives.

It’s the kind of game that doesn’t take itself seriously at all—it’s silly, buggy, and occasionally infuriating, but that’s exactly the point. If you’re looking for a polished simulation, this isn’t it. If you’re looking for a few hours of ridiculous physics, building monuments of garlic, and embracing pure internet absurdity, Garlic Builder is a weirdly charming way to waste an afternoon.
