Mad Metal is a vehicular combat game built around the idea that the apocalypse happened, and the only thing left worth doing is welding spikes onto a car and ramming other people who had the same idea. You start with a junker—something barely holding together, with an engine that coughs and armor made of scrap—and you fight your way up through a wasteland full of rival drivers who want your parts, your fuel, and your life. The core loop is simple: win fights, salvage what’s left of your enemies, upgrade your ride, and go looking for a bigger fight.

The combat is where it lives. You’ve got mounted weapons—machine guns, flamethrowers, harpoon guns, saw blades, mine droppers—and you use them while driving, which means you’re constantly balancing offense with keeping your car on the road. Handling matters. A heavily armored truck can take a beating but turns like a brick. A lighter buggy can dodge and weave but falls apart fast. Every build is a trade-off, and the game usually gives you enough slots to make genuinely weird combinations work.

Progression is built on scavenging and crafting. You strip wrecks for parts, unlock new chassis types, and unlock better weapons as you survive tougher arenas and story missions. Some versions add a campaign with factions, bosses, and territory control, while others focus on arena survival and endless waves. Either way, the loop is the same: fight, loot, rebuild, repeat.

The tone is loud, grimy, and over the top, with explosions, sparks, and metal crunching constantly. It’s not a game about subtlety. It’s about strapping a rocket to a sedan and seeing what happens. If you liked Twisted Metal or Crossout, this is that same itch, just rougher around the edges.
